Anyone who has known me for a while has tasted (or at least seen) this dish. Handed over to me from my sister-in-law (thanks Lori!), they are the best beans you'll ever eat. Beware..this is not a "light" dish but well worth it, especially at a BBQ or by camp fire. This dish also works well in a crock pot or simmering for some time in a large pot on stove (in home or over fire).
Ingredients:
1LB Ground Chuck
1LB Bacon
2 medium onions
2/3 c brown sugar
1/3 c white sugar
1/4 c ketchup
1/4 c BBQ sauce
2 Tbls mustard
10 Tbls molasses
1/2 tsp chilli pepper
1/2 tsp each salt & pepper
1LB canned pork & beans undrained
1LB canned kidney beans, partly drained
1LB canned butter beans, partly drained
1LB canned navy beans, partly drained
Directions:
Brown ground beef. In separate pan, cook bacon half-way, remove. Cook chopped onion in bacon grease until transparent. Remove.
Add remaining ingredients to ground chuck, bacon & onion, bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
